The ambient room air is transported by thermal convection or fans (depending on the device type) through the AIRsteril® device. The device contains a special UV lamp and a highly effective catalyst grid. The special UV light from two wave ranges kills all bacteria, viruses, spores, microorganisms in the device and eliminates odors. The interaction of the UV light with the specially tuned catalyst lattice generates a so-called quattro plasma. This plasma consists of ionized oxygen, short-lived triatomic oxygen (ozone) and hydroxyl radicals.

This plasma is heavier than the ambient air and thus settles on surfaces. It gets into almost every corner, where it specifically eliminates health-endangering and odor-causing microorganisms such as bacteria, viruses and fungal and mold spores.
